Neil Oliver, Scottish historian, broadcaster and one of the most fearless independent voices in the UK, joined me for one of the most wide-ranging conversations I have had about this conflict:
"Iran has won the war it didn't want and didn't ask for... whatever happens next, we see ourselves living in a different world."
The idea that the U.S. could exert its force wherever it saw fit for whatever reason has been exposed, and that illusion may be dead and buried forever.
"I think so much of what I was told about the 20th century is a terrible, cynical lie, I wonder whether we in the West ever were the good guys, we were just guys, driven by the same things everyone else is..."
People are no longer waiting for the official narrative to collapse, they are spotting psyops as they happen, calling them out instantly, and that is a very difficult thing to put back in the bottle.
On where history is heading: censorship, consolidation, control of platforms, it is all the same story told again and again, but people always find a way to meet in a field and talk anyway.
