🇺🇸🇮🇷 Washington vowed the most crushing economic operation ever attempted against any country, and oil, bonds, and stocks all voted against it within hours

The Treasury Secretary announced sanctions meant to collapse Iran's government, then watched crude climb and told CNBC:

"spike in oil prices today that I don't really understand"

Larry Johnson thinks the escalation explains itself.

Victors don't sanction the defeated.

Nobody imposed new embargoes on Germany in 1945, because the war was actually over.

Which means: the harder Washington squeezes, the louder it admits the strait is still closed and the enemy still stands.

His deeper point is mechanical.

Sanctions bite in dollars, through American banks, through SWIFT.

China runs renminbi rails with a hundred countries aboard, Pakistan opened six overland routes within days of the blockade, and 2015-style leverage no longer exists.

Meanwhile Israeli media delivered the day's quietest bombshell.

Netanyahu convened an emergency cabinet on Turkey, intelligence reportedly shows Ankara preparing advanced air defenses for Syria, and per Israel Hayom, Israel has studied whether striking Turkish troops abroad would even trigger NATO.

Its conclusion: probably not.

Larry's tell to watch now is Hezbollah.

If Tehran answers the sanctions, he expects the silence in Lebanon to break first.
