David Pyne, Fmr. U.S. Army Officer and Nat'l Security Expert, doesn't think this pause is the "end," he thinks it's the setup for something FAR more dangerous:
Trump has now cancelled strikes on Iran twice in a week, each time after ordering full war preparations.
Israel is reportedly furious, and Pyne's read is Trump cannot decide between being a neocon and being a realist, bouncing between the two with no coherent exit.
Before February 28th, Iran had ordered its proxies NOT to attack U.S. forces, they were contained. Now, they fire ballistic missiles at U.S. troops in Jordan and restart the war every time Trump offers an olive branch.
As far as China's concerned, the U.S. is ALREADY below 50% of pre-war missile stockpiles, China has a 10-to-1 ship advantage in the Taiwan Strait and a far greater missile advantage still, and Pyne anticipates a Chinese move on Taiwan by NEXT OCTOBER.
