That line from Andy Schectman reframed our whole conversation.

His argument: a system built on trust for 50 years is watching that trust erode every time treasuries get seized, countries get cut from SWIFT, and a trillion in new debt appears every few months.

And the rest of the world is quietly building the exits.

He pointed to real infrastructure, not theory.

A new immediate-delivery gold and silver market in Dubai, the mBridge payment system, China's CIPS network signing up all of ASEAN, gold hubs expanding from Shanghai to Mumbai to Riyadh.

None of it replaces the dollar tomorrow. All of it chips away.

His bolder thesis is that Washington may actually WANT to shed reserve status, because Triffin's Dilemma means you can't rebuild a manufacturing base while the world hoards your currency.

The fix he lays out runs through gold-backed treasury bonds, a weaker dollar, and debt that gets easier to pay as gold climbs.
